The List (5-star review) - August 2026
This is an old-fashioned cabaret show in the best sense of the word; it’s simply staged, lots of audience interaction, and all backed up by the kind of voice that could easily reach out and crush the back row at Carnegie Hall. And her crowd loves her for it.
Aimed at the girls, the gays and the theys, if the title didn’t give it away the introduction of Ross’ witch-daemon Miss Andry more than nods towards a tone that is emphatically not for the lads. The lyrics to her mostly original songs are hilarious, particularly a little ditty built around the online abuse Ross gets and a song about being childfree: not nearly as divisive as it sounds once you’re through the video compilation that precedes it.
Yet, just when you think you’ve got the show’s sequin-soaked measure, things take a turn. An a cappella version of ‘The Day The Nazi Died’, followed by ‘My Mother’s Savage Daughter’ nails Ross’ colours even more firmly to the political mast. It’s properly exhilarating to see someone stand so confidently in their power, as she takes us to church with a final audience singalong of ‘Stop Giving Men Microphones’: also available in sticker form for the podcasters in your life if you feel like serving some cunt of your own.

Sweeping on stage for the first of several musical numbers, her voice is genuinely fantastic, more than capable of delivering the musical goods beneath the comedy. And the songs themselves, most of which debuted on her TikTok channel, are very funny indeed, merrily careering through ageing, motherhood, misogyny, and the perennial scourge of internet trolls.
Between numbers, she is every bit as entertaining. Her frequent audience interactions are deliciously sharp but, crucially, never cruel. Hester Ross has the confidence of a performer who knows exactly how far she can push someone before pulling them back into the fun.
Beneath all the profanity and fabulousness, however, Serving C*nt has something more substantial on its mind. What initially appears to be an exercise in outrageous self-confidence gradually reveals itself as a celebration of female autonomy, ageing, self-acceptance and the right to take up space.
Even the titular word is reclaimed as shorthand for living unapologetically and refusing to make yourself smaller for somebody else’s comfort.

Armed with a staggering vocal range capable of shattering the very back row of a venue ten times the size, Ross commands the space with immaculate comic timing and an arsenal of deliciously filthy material. The cabaret is explicitly curated for a queer and female-centric demographic, playfully underscored by the introduction of her man-hating witch-daemon alter-ego, Miss Andry.
Yet, while her crowd work is fiercely provocative, it remains anchored by a generous, inclusive warmth; even the men in the audience, provided they behave themselves, find their way into the communal hilarity without ever feeling genuinely targeted or alienated.
Musically, the production is a riotous triumph, featuring uproarious original tracks—many popularised by her millions of online followers – that tackle misogyny, internet trolls, the choice to remain childfree, and the liberating joy of simply being old enough to no longer care. Her otherwise immaculate pacing when the raucous comedy abruptly halts for a stark shift into earnest political commentary, a rendition of Chumbawamba’s ‘The Day the Nazi Died‘, and a gorgeous performance of Ross’ own ‘My Savage Daughter’ may halt some spectactor’s momentum, but to those audiences – life isn’t fluid and streamed.

Vegas-based Sarah Hester Ross is an internationally touring cabaret artist and viral social media creator whose musical comedy blends bold feminist takes with powerhouse vocals and sharp-as-hell satire.
The daughter of a music teacher, Sarah was born and raised in Florida and has been performing onstage since she was 3. After impressing audiences through her dueling piano shows, she realized she had a gift for comedy and cabaret. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and brought so much uncertainty, she found herself in the right place at the right time. Suddenly unemployed and with free time on her hands – literally – she began to post the furiously funny feminist content she’s become known for.
Short-form videos showcasing an exceptional combination of musical talents and hilarious commentary have led her to more than 2.5 million followers. The first viral video she had was a parody she wrote called Vibrators are a Girl’s Best Friend. Though the song had always done well during her live dueling piano shows – where she initially started writing parody songs – Sarah was blown away by the response online. From there, she experimented with a selfie-style song filmed in her mirror, a format that has continued to see viral success. This overnight success was a long time coming – and a whole lot of work: she posted up to 4 original music videos everyday for nearly a year!
